How does this happen on my late 2010-MacBook Air which cannot be upgraded higher than macOS High Sierra V 10.13.6? Thanks in advance

Hello, MauL871_.

Did something change on the laptop... was new software installed? Recent macOS or other software updates?

Have you tried restarting the computer? Click  (Apple menu) > Shut Down...

You might try resetting the PRAM/NVRAM:

You may need to reset the SMC:

Hopefully, one of these things will resolve your problem. If not, please come back and let us know so we can offer others suggestions. 🙂
