Battery health falling very fast.

Hi,

I purchased a MacBook Pro M1 in December. Since then I have been using it almost daily for writing purposes and for Netflix. But the battery health has been dropping very fast although it is plugged in almost all times.

It now sits at 92% with just 91 cycles.

Should I be worried?

I wouldn't worry until as long as battery condition is stated as "Normal".

How battery health management helps

The battery health management feature in macOS 10.15.5 is designed to improve your battery's lifespan by reducing the rate at which it chemically ages. The feature does this by monitoring your battery's temperature history and its charging patterns.

Based on the measurements that it collects, battery health management may reduce your battery's maximum charge when in this mode. This happens as needed to ensure that your battery charges to a level that's optimized for your usage—reducing wear on the battery, and slowing its chemical aging. Battery health management also uses the measurements to calculate when your battery needs service.

I would not be concerned—

The battery health management software (BHM) can put on hold your charging this is the new normal.

It interpolates your usage pattern, and can hold it at 92% 88% 84% 72% etc. however it deems best, to extend the health of your battery.

If you need a full charge for portability

You are doing the correct thing— leave it on the mains, only if you need the extended portability do you need a full charge.
