Apple 6 Watch battery drains for no reason

I have an Apple Watch 6. Normally I get at least 2 days use on the battery. But lately, there's been a big overnight drain on the battery. Yesterday evening, it was at 90% when I left it on the cabinet. When I picked it up today, it was at 23%! I had not worn it since yesterday evening, so it lost 67% sitting on the kitchen cabinet. And this is happening consistently. I've had every Apple watch, and none of the batteries have had this problem.

When I first got the watch, it kept a reliable charge. The big drop in the battery charge has been happening for about 3-5 weeks. Could the battery drain be related to a recent OS update?

FYI: I don't get an excessive number of alerts, and I use it to answer the phone occasionally, IOW, average use but nothing to explain a 67% loss of charge overnight sitting on the cabinet.

Thanks in advance.

“Battery life” is the amount of time your device runs before it needs to be recharged. “Battery lifespan” is the amount of time your battery lasts until it needs to be replaced. Maximize both and you’ll get the most out of your Apple devices, no matter which ones you own. See the "Tips for Apple Watch" section in:

If the battery drains too fast after an update, see all the replies to:

FWIW, in some cases, unpairing the watch, completely erasing it, then pairing and restoring the backup will resolve the battery draining issue after an update. Also, some people have found that simply waiting a few days after an update resolves the battery draining problem.
