Is 2021 iPad Pro 12.9" display any better for normal use?

Apple pitches the 12.9" display as a world apart. But is this limited to a very small set of activities like watching Dolby Vision movies?

At the Apple Store, I couldn't detect any difference between the 2021 11" and 12.9" displays in normal use.

Is there a big difference? Where else besides movies do you see this?

If your already have a 2018 or 2020 iPad Pro 12.9”, then perhaps the XDR display and additional performance (introduced by the M1 CPU and additional 2-10GB RAM) would not justify an upgrade to the 2021 model.

If coming from an earlier model iPad, then the display and performance boost might be a different proposition. As an owner with specific needs, the decision was an easy and a worthwhile step to make. Your own needs and assessment may well be different.

Power efficiency and performance are key differences.

Whilst the visible differences in screen rendering are perhaps subtle for “normal” use, a like-for-like comparison between equivalent models shows considerable improvement in performance coupled with reduced power consumption. Clearly these differences, in part due to the new screen technology, are not visual per-se.

Thanks. I'm less concerned about power efficiency, which I assume is about battery life.

What I am most interested in is does everything feel "more responsive". One person described it as "quick vs fast". For simple, commonplace tasks like opening app, switching between app, scrolling in an app, web browsing, with the "quickness" be immediately clear.

Or it a bit better, but not worth upgrading for?
