Apple Watch fall detection

Could someone please explain fall detection as this is reason I may be purchasing soon. Thx!

Apple watch 6 is a very good choice,my wife has fallen a couple of times on the winter ice and the watch's fall detection picked it up every time.

There is also this that you might be interested in;

Use Emergency SOS on your Apple Watch - Apple Support

This is a separate feature which is an extra layer of safety and security.

Hello again:)I wanted you to know that due to the help and kindness you provided… we purchased an Apple Watch for my autistic and epileptic grandson and it has already helped him SO much. Thank you very much for this and all you do here in this forum.
