How do I remove iMessage phone number if I no longer have that number or sim card

How can I remove the original iMessage number from my iCloud if I no longer have access to that number?

It wants to send me a text message to get a code to verify my identity but I no longer have access to my old phone or number it was stolen and I’ve now changed provider, thanks for replying

Apple have said change my iCloud password and it will remove all numbers, I’ve tried that and it’s still there
