After updating to macOS Big Sur, 11.4, the capability to forward delete characters on my 2017 MacBook Pro 15 inch using the Fn + Delete keys no longer functions. Pressing the Fn key twice still brings up the dictation, so I know the key still works, but the update seems to have changed this basic functionality for deleting characters.

Actually, leroydouglas, this didn't solve my issue, but helped troubleshoot it. While the key appeared to be functioning correctly, such as enabling dictation, depending on the level of pressure or angle the key was held at, caused it to start working as it should. So I will need to get some alcohol under the key and blow it out to clean it.

Hmmm...
Make some changes in that preferences pane you are showing to test.
Uninstall all third party apps that are Cleaners/Optimizers/VPN/Anti-Virus
If you still have issues—Try a SafeBoot https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262
to clear system cache files. Reboot as normal
