Do all background apps really restart when you reboot iPhone?

Do all background apps really restart when you reboot iPhone?

I’ve noticed that the app switcher doesn’t show screens for the apps but they are shown there (typically with just a blank screen or a solid color screen with the app name/logo). And it seems sometimes iOS just decides to quit apps because for example you re-open the app and they say conversation or article you were looking at is gone, although it hasn’t been deleted (it can be found again.)

I guess it’s impossible to answer this question without a jailbroken phone? And The answer is not a simple yes or no even for a given app?

I can’t find a definitive answer. (Just found this :

When you shut down a phone all apps are shut down also.

The app switcher screen shows apps that you have used; it does not show “running” apps. In fact, none of the apps in the app switcher are running. They are all suspended. And most of them aren’t even in RAM; depending on your phone model and its RAM capacity you may have only 2, 3, or 4 apps that are actually in RAM and capable of running and those will be the ones you have most recently used. All that’s in RAM is iOS, the list of apps in the app switcher with their current state, and a few apps that are still in RAM. Whether an app starts when the phone starts up is up to the app developer; in general apps won’t restart until you launch them, unless they have background tasks to do (“real” background, not just because the are in the app switcher), such as get mail or texts, update weather or stocks, check location, etc.

As you launch apps that are in the app switcher they will be reloaded from storage and their state restored, except on the off-chance that they are still in RAM.
