iPadOS 15 - External Monitor Support

Hello, can anyone answer me to as whether or not in iPadOS 15, there will be any external monitor support? Is it just me, or would you guys love to have this?

I really hope they do. I have a great Thunderbolt dock with Ethernet, two external monitors (can only use one), keyboard/trackpad and a few other things ready to go with this iPad but the external monitor support is truly lacking. Don’t tell me I can use external docks but give me a horrid view experience where it is mirroring and not even extending my displays.

Here’s to hoping for it to being in iPadOS 16.

I really hope so.

It'll make those of us with a iPad Pro/Air with a USB-C port actually be able to use it. Especially with the M1 Pro having Thunderbolt 3 that is capable of supporting multiple external displays.

With all of the other improvements coming in iPadOS 15 this would be the icing on the cake.

Well along with real professional apps for creators.

It would be very unusual for Apple to spread information that deviates from the official announcements in this way. In this respect, I would not assume that this feature, which has been overdue for years, will actually come with iPadOS 15.

If it were otherwise, it would certainly not be very clever from a marketing point of view to keep it quiet - because for quite a few users, this would be long-awaited positive news and for many professional users who are interested in iPads, it would be a strong additional incentive to buy.

I myself have been waiting for a long time for Apple to finally deliver this long overdue feature and thus catch up with long established and successful concepts such as Samsung DeX. The utility and range of use of the iPad Pro models would expand dramatically and enable completely new generations of apps. The computing power of the iPad Pro models was already sufficient for this at earlier points in time - but there can no longer be any plausible technical reasons with the M1 generation at the latest.

Meanwhile, one can only speculate about Apple's reasons. It could simply be fear of cannibalization of the low-end MacBook models. It could also be based on the assessment that only few users would use such a feature. Ultimately, it could also be due to the design of iPadOS, which was never originally designed for multi-monitor operation or excessive mouse and keyboard use, but was optimized for touch operation.
