I've been wondering the same thing. I wear a 3 on the inside of my wrist and still get all the readings offered. It does a great job with sleep detection and heart rate. I'm curious, then, if the "will work only" is true or if Apple just has not fully tested it anywhere on the body but the top of the wrist.
