Software not downloading

I have recently purchased a kensington Ethernet adapter USB-A, I wanted to download the software but it is being blocked by Apple. I went to Security&Privacy and in the heading 'allow apps downloaded from' it showed the software that I wanted to download, I clicked 'allow' for this specific software. Then a pop-up looking like a terminal pops up asking me to enter my password, but I couldn't time it.

I clicked it away, restarted my computer and now I can still not download the software. Yet in the Security&Privacy stetting it is not showing this specific software either. How can I download this software to get the network adapter to work?

Hello and welcome to Apple Support Communities Esthervl12,

Thank you for contacting us regarding downloading a software application. You have come to the right place and we are happy to assist in getting this resolved for you.  We understand your trying to install software to enable the use of an adapter. You can temporarily override the Mac security as long as you know the software can be trusted. You will need to eject the adapter first, then restart the computer. Once you have done that, plug in the adapter again and you will get the pop up that will allow you to allow the install. See the link below and follow the prompts.
