updating

okay so i have an eight plus that isn't working because the home button broke so while i was using it i used assistive touch to work the home button, now that i factory rested the phone it's not working at all, it's also saying to press the home button to update but obviously the home button isn't working. so im trying to update it on my laptop in itunes but when i plug it into my laptop it won't read the phone, i've tried different cords and everything and nothings working.
