iOS securityd has

iOS securityd works frantically every day or two for anywhere from half an hour to a few hours, and during its scan, some of the apps on the phone don't work, especially when opening Google-developed apps are stuck on the startup page. This has been going on for almost a year.

Greetings PaPPP,

We understand that you’re encountering an issue with Google-developed apps on your iPhone. It sounds like they are showing the splash screen, but not loading. Do we have that right?

If so, let’s double verify that your iOS is up to date with iOS 14.6 (check in Settings > General > About) and that there are no available updates for these apps. You’ll be able to check for app updates in the App Store app by tapping your profile icon at the top right.

Thanks.

PaPPP,

Is this isolated to third-party apps, or do you notice it happening with Apple apps as well? When you say the apps are crashing, are you noticing the same thing as with the Google-developed apps where you see the splash screen but then the app quits?

You've mentioned restoring and setting up as new. So the common situation here is your iCloud log in and possibly the login(s) to the apps. Do you use iCloud Keychain? Do you save your passwords and logins for these apps there?

Thanks.

PaPPP,

Let's test this. Pick one of those apps and delete it. Don't redownload yet. Then go to Settings > Passwords and find the listing of the user and password for that app and delete the login information. Be sure to write it down if you need to.

Then redownload the app and launch it. Sign in, is there any change?

Thank you.
