even though your macs wifi card does not support IEEE 802.11ax then it will still work on the network made by a IEEE 802.11ax (wifi6) router, the std. are backward compatible
WiFi 6 is more a marketing term than a huge step forward. It’s main feature is to better the performance of a crowded network (which most home users aren’t).
What you really need is WiFi AC, a standard that’s been around for years. FWIW, my 2013 iMac connects at stable 1300 Mbps. So, I wouldn’t worry about it.
