How secure is AES encryption? At present, there are no known cryptographic attacks against AES-128 nor AES-256 itself, with existing attacks involving known or weak keys, or compromised AES implementations, etc.

If you should need better than AES, then you should also want specific help with cryptography and with personal and data security.
They might be able to steal the spasebundle, but they will still have difficulty decrypting it, depending on how complicated the password.
If they can steal it, I don't think there is anything in a sparsebundle that will cause it to self-destruct if someone tries to brute force the password.
