feet of climb

Does apple use feet of climb to determine how difficult a hike is and if those minutes should be counted toward exercise goals? Also is there away for users to adjust workout time? As sometimes I forget to restart my watch when I pause it for a break, or even forget to start when taking a class, and don't get my minutes. Also any plans to capture more information from a user. For example, if I hike with a 30 pound back I will be slower but still working hard, versus if I hike with just a 3lb bladder of water. I think sometimes my minutes don't count because of speed, but I am working hard or harder than when I hike with just water. I do not want use the "other" option where you count all minutes because I want to record miles hiked. Thank you.
