HP Deskjet 1112 Printer can't connect or print

I'm having a HP Deskjet 1112 Printer but can't configure that. Tried Reset Device. Tried HP EasyPrint App. Tried HP Smart App. Tried updating the OS. No Results. Please help.

Just for reference, I am having Macbook Air (M1 Chip)

Hi,

HP recommends HP Easy Start for the Deskjet 1112 (and macOS 11.2).

This is probably one of the apps that you have tested without success, though.

I do not know whether a direct download solution like HP Easy Admin would change anything.

You should really ask HP to solve this. It should not be this difficult to configure/install a printer on a modern operating system.

If it is not possible to get help from the printer manufacturer, and if nothing else works, carrying out experiments and testing workarounds would be the only other way forward. However, if you do so, make sure that you know what you are doing. There is always a certain risk with an experiment. Software and hardware problems cannot be ruled out. Data may be lost. So, before you start, make sure that at least three backup copies (on separate media) of important files (documents, photos, etc.) are available.

According to the specifications (http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04721879.pdf#d0e5829), the DeskJet 1110 series printers use an HP PCL3 GUI printing language. This is not standard PCL. You may want to try drivers for other (similar) HP printers using the same language. This may not work at all, and it is going to be time-consuming. Older printers using HP PCL3 GUI can be found, for example, in https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/information-printers-hp . Various printer drivers can be found at https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1888?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US .

If you have access to an old PC (with USB and Ethernet ports), you could install an appropriate (free) earlier Desktop version of Ubuntu (or perhaps one of its derivatives) on that machine, in order to make it a print server. There is an HP DeskJet 1112 driver for Linux (https://developers.hp.com/hp-linux-imaging-and-printing/supported_devices/index). Ubuntu is using CUPS. A USB printer (like the DeskJet 1112) could be connected to a USB port on the Ubuntu PC. Then this printer could be configured to be shared (only a few simple steps). An Ubuntu PC can handle Bonjour/mDNS/Avahi. Connect the Ubuntu PC (with the DeskJet 1112) via Ethernet to a network (one of the LAN ports of a Wi-Fi router). Check whether the shared printer will be recognised by the MacBook Air (wirelessly connected to the router), and whether it is possible to print.

It is probably easier to buy an AirPrint-enabled printer...
