I recall that forum members, I think Badunit, have demonstrated how to do that in the past, but you would need to provide a specific problem showing the setup of your document.

You are digging deep into the past. I recall porting a recursive algorithm to Numbers to solve a particular problem. I think it was to take a list of numbers and find a subset that would sum up to a given total without exceeding it.
