I'll start by saying: I'm old!!
Used to have to record backwards guitar to tape a fair bit so here is how I get it most authentic in the box.
What were we actually doing on the tape? We were turning the tape around so the whole backing played backwards and the guitar part was played forwards. Then the tape flipped back the correct way and voila, forward music, backwards guitar track.
In the box I do a roughmix of what I have so far and bounce it down to a stereo track and bring it back into the Logic project.
I mute everything else except the rough mix I just brought back in. I reverse that stereo mix track.
I play (or get the guitarist) to play against the reversed track.
I reverse the played guitar track, ditch the rough stereo bounce and unmute the rest of the forward playing backing tracks.
Sometimes I print the guitar track with reverb before reversing so you get true backwards reverb as well.
It's not a perfect method and there's some lining up to do but it's as authentic as I can get it to flipping the tape over.
