Air Tags - suitability for use as a luggage tracker

I was going to buy Air Tags to put in my luggage and backpack when I need to check them on flights or at hotels so I can track them if they are lost, but with the new anti-stalking update that apparently will cause the Air Tags to start beeping randomly between 8 and 24 hours after separation from the connected iPhone will the Air Tags start beeping at some point in my luggage if it is checked on a long flight of more than 8 hours at a hotel? I am concerned that if my checked items start beeping they might cause alarm.
