use of Mac mini late 2012 with new Mac mini 2021

I plan to purchase a new mac mini 2021 but would like to utilize my old, upgraded (two 1 GB SSD cards and 16GB mem), mac mini late 2012.

The idea is to use the old one for storage if possible.

Can I do this and if yes how to?

Pull the SSDs out of the old mini, put them in an external drive case and plug them into your new mini’s USB/Thunderbolt3 port.

You can find compatible enclosures and how-to videos at https://macsales.com

Forget the RAM modules, though. They are not compatible.
