Im not able to turn on double side printing! how to turn on? Please help me out.

hello guys,

Recently I brought my MacBook Pro (my first MacBook). when I go to print my documents, I can't select two sided printing option. it is very irritating when I can't print my documents two sided! it costs me more pages. Im using Canon pixma G3000 series printer, however it does support two sided printing on my windows laptop, but not on my MacBook. Please help me out with this issue! I will be attaching a screenshot below please check it out.

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 10.15

In the pull down menu where you have selected "Layout," instead select "Printer Features." Then explore the different additional menus inside Printer Features, some of which SCROLL down even though that scrolling down aspect may not be obvious (some of them show only several lines of options but there are many more visible when you SCROLL down further). Then you will eventually see "Duplex Printing" or something like that which can be turned on or off. That is where you can get duplex printing, not from the "two-sided" menu that you show in your screen shot. It is not totally logical, I agree, but that is how to get duplex printing with many of the Canon printers.

Here are some screenshots, your specific submenu may show something different from mine, in mine I can turn duplex printing on/off via a submenu called "General 2" (there is also General 1, General 3 ... through General 5, but yours may be a bit different, but duplex is in there)

Two Things Come to Mind:

A. Restart Between Reinstalls:

If you reinstall drivers, then perform the following:

  1. Uninstall: The Drivers
  2. Restart: The Mac
  3. Install: The Drivers
  4. Restart: The Mac
  5. Try this once more

And...

B. Resetting the Printing System:

One thing to mention is that I had the same issue with my Epson Eco Tank Printer - Reseting the Printing System fixed it, as the drivers were installed in an instant.

What to do:

  1. Go To: System Preferences
  2. Select: Printers & Scanners
  3. Right-Click: on this pinter
  4. Select: Reset printing system...
  5. Click: Reset button

Contact Canon:

Having done some research, it appears there are multiple apps that you must uninstall. for the Canon Pixma G3000. But, there are also termorary files (caches) that must be removed. So, contact Canon using this information:

Note: Calls might be a bit of a wait. And that makes sense because with COVID going around, many are at home working out of their houses, with more time on their hands to contact Canon Support. So, contact Canon, knowing that you might have to wait a few.

Yes different models have different options arranged differently in the print dialogue. I am hoping that the original poster's will work like mine does (mine is an older printer) because their dialogue box resembled mine and did not have the two-sided option box up front to check as yours does. It's something to try for if their dialogue lacks the option that yours shows.

Install the Correct Firmware:

You need the correct firmware to get this to work, on top of the drivers. Get it from the manufacturer (Canon), rather than a third-party device to avoid scams and junk from being installed.

So, Go Here and Chat with Canon Support: Canon Maintenance Service — Canon Support. Contacting support is the best way to go about troubleshooting the printer’s inoperability. So, perform a chat with the Manufacturer (Canon) using that link.
