A Device Attached to the System is not Functioning

For years on the each Iphone I was able to copy off files to my PC and then to my external HD no problem all files and one file. I would say in the last 2 years I always get the " A Device attached to the system is not functioning" so I constantly have to reboot my iphone and it does work for a couple videos and then again I get it ... SO FRUSTRATING !!!

I primarily do this procedure to copy home videos from my IPHONE 8 to my home external drive so I can watch them and store them externally.

Can anyone help me out here with suggestions?

To start, let us know which method you're using to transfer data from your iPhone? Are you using iTunes on your computer? Or are you transferring using another app, such as File Explorer?

Have you had an opportunity to restart your computer since noticing this behavior? Also, will it be possible to test while using a different Lightning to USB cable, and while connected to a different USB port on your computer? This will help to isolate the issue directly to your iPhone, the cable, or the computer itself.

Also, so that we're on the same page, let us know which software version you're using on your iPhone and on your computer. If an update is available for either, we can recommend installing it and then testing again.
