owc thunderbolt 3 pro dock 10gbe disconnecting with new M1 Macbook pro

Hello all,

I bought a Owc tb3 dock pro for 10gbe and it worked fine on my 2015 Mb pro 15” with Tb2 to Tb3 adapter.

Now I switched to a M1 Macbook pro and the 10gbe is not working as it was anymore.

ethernet plug is down and the only way to have it work is to unplug the dock and the ethernet cable then plug the dock back in and then the ethernet cable.

the plug on the the dock starts blinking and the connection works but it shows uncorrectly bluethoot adapter connected!

Owc responded to contact Apple because they build hardware to intel specifics and M1 support should be improved by Apple.

Is there a way to improve the connection or to improve support?

thanks in avance

we have no way of escalating issues that are discussed here. If not solved, You need to use the link:

... and after they do the "is the plug in the wall" kind of gross checks, ask to be forwarded to a second-level specialist.

I am a little surprised this does not work out-of-the-box, because the 2019 Mac Pro has 10G ethernet standard. The M1 Mac Mini has a 10G Ethernet port as a custom option, and they are likely all using the same chips.

You wrote 10Gb Ethernet. Is that correct, or did you mean Gigabit Ethernet ?

At the moment, all the aftermarket Gigabit Ethernet adapters are using an RTL chip that has a problem with the M1 implementation. Similar symptoms -- stops working under heavy loads. We think the belkin adapter sold in the Mac store works, but this has not been confirmed.

Both of these issues should be fixed in updates coming soon.

cat 6a 10Gbe network (already tested and working with my previous macbook pro 15” on mojave),

the dock is connected trough a tb3 cable to a M1 macbook pro 13” on Big Sur 11.4

the ethernet protocol changed on new M1 and Owc says it’s out of their capacity to solve this issue. Apple should implement the drivers or fix the broken one for the Dock to work.

for now ethernet (the only reason why I bought this specific dock) works just with workaround as said in my first post.

Is there a way of making Apple aware of this specific issue so maybe a fix or workaround can be found.
