Customizing on-screen keyboard

Hello,

Is there any way to customize the on-screen keyboard on Mac and add special characters that are missing there? For example, I would like to add the characters H̠ h̠ instead some other that I don't use (when I press option to see the special characters in the English virtual keyboard).

I usually use emoji viewer but I would like to customize the keyboard viewer.

Thank you

MacBook, macOS 10.15

If one of the dozens of keyboards provided by Apple doesn't meet your needs, then it is pretty easy to make a custom layout using the Ukelele app:

When you have your custom layout chosen in the "flag" menu, the screen keyboard will reflect any customizations you have made.

Keyboard Viewer reflects the input source you have active. If you add ABC Extended to your list in system preferences > keyboard > input sources and then select it in the "flag" menu at the top right of the screen, Keyboard Viewer will show ABC Extended, which lets you make those characters you mention by typing option h and then the base character: ẖH̱
