Miroir M631 projector does not receive signal from 2019 15" MacBook Pro

Miroir M631 projector does not receive signal from 2019 15" MacBook Pro. I am using the USB C cable they provided. There's no troubleshooting information and little discourse. Should I just return the projector? The laptop works fine with the projector at the college. It is on on an adapter. There's no topic either. I guess Apple has really become disconnected from what they sell at their stores.

who THEY? where did this cable come from? what connectors at each end?
