Remove speaker from Apple Music
I want to remove a speaker from Apple Music. I have removed the device [a HomePod] from the Home App. It still appears as a speaker under Apple Music on iOS and macOS.

jewelslife,
If your HomePod is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the iPhone or Mac you're playing music from, it would be expected behavior to see the HomePod as an available device to stream from along with any other speakers or TV's that are AirPlay compatible and on the same network. You cannot remove the HomePod from this list. It was more so mentioned that if you did want it to not show, disconnecting it from the Wi-Fi network or switching it to another Wi-Fi network would do just that. We would suggest submitting Product Feedback on this.
Have a great day!
Hello jewelslife,
Welcome to Apple Support Communities!
We understand that you’d like to remove a speaker from Apple Music and are still seeing your HomePod listed after removing it from the Home app. We’d like to help.
Are you seeing the HomePod listed as an Airplay device in Apple Music?
You mentioned removing the HomePod from the Home app, check out Reset HomePod if you need to reset the device as well or to ensure it was successfully removed.
Take care.
I see. So if a HomePod speaker is connected to your Wifi network, you cannot remove it as an available speaker.
The Home Pod cannot stand alone as a devise when it is on the same network as Apple Music. It will be discovered as an available speaker.
When on the same Wifi network, a home pod can be removed from the list of devises from the Home App.
When on the same Wifi network, a hope pod cannot be removed on Apple Music.
Thank you
jewelslife,
You can Use AirPlay to stream audio to an Airplay compatible device such as your HomePod. Any device that is Airplay compatible and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the device you’re streaming from will show in the device list which is what you're seeing in the Apple Music app on your iOS and macOS devices. There is no way to manage the Airplay list but you can disconnect from the Wi-Fi network, this will no longer show the device.
Have a nice day.
jewelslife,
Yes, that is correct. This would apply to Apple Music and any other app that would allow you to stream content using AirPlay. Any of those AirPlay compatible devices on the same network would show in the list.
Cheers!
I should have been more clear. I have removed the Home pod speaker from the the Hope App. It does not appear on the Home app. But it still appears in the Apple Music App.
I unplugged the Home Pod. Still appears in the Apple Music App.
I was confused to see that some functions of the Home Pod are controlled by Home App and others by Apple Music. (Because the home pod is added to the Apple system via the Home App, I expect the Home App to be a centralized control for the name and function of the device.)
I understand now that that the Home Pod and its place in the Apple system was designed differently than I imagined. Thank you.
Are you suggesting that I no longer use Wifi on my Apple devises so that none of my Wifi connected speakers are available?
