Few years ago, when Apple was providing iPhoto, I mistakingly dragged out the app instead of the photos and videos out of my MacBook Air to drop them in an external Hard Drive, the pics and videos won't open anymore even it shows the size of the whole folder/pictures. My question is: Did I loose my photos? or is there any way to retrieve them?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.4

Do you still have the iPhoto Library in your Pictures folder? Or wherever you kept the library with the photos?

Photos for Mac should be able topen the iPhoto Library and to create a Photos Library from it.

Look on your Mac for an item with an icon like this - a fan of three pictures with a pink flower or a palm tree in the sunset:

Try to open it in Photos by dragging it onto the Photos icon in the Dock. Or launch Photos while holding down the options key ⌥, then select your iPhoto Library from the library chooser dialog.
