All of a sudden i stopped getting alerts for incoming mail on my Mac (macOS 10.15.7, Mail 13.4)
Things seem to be setup correctly and there's been no change from yesterday when I did get alerts so i'm at a loss to see why this is happening.

If we understand your post correctly, you are not seeing banner notifications for new mail on your Mac. We’d like to help.
Safe mode will tell us if the issue is related to a startup item or plugins, and sometimes corrects the issue.

That is not correct-I’m not hearing audio alerts for incoming mail and I was a day before.
