What if my iPhone isn’t at said location?

Is there a way to find out the location of your phone even if it’s powered off? And also what if my phone isn’t at the location it says it’s at?

iPhone XR, iOS 14

If it is powered off there is no way for it to connect to send location updates.

Your device will store the last location for 24 hours. If your device sends a location but is then turned off, the information Apple has will be out of date since it can't receive up-to-date location information.

"Location information is only sent to Apple when you actively locate your device, mark it as lost, or enable Send Last Location. Data is encrypted on Apple’s servers and kept for no more than 24 hours."
