The iAccounts app is not working

The iAccounts app is no longer working since Apple's iOS update 14.6. I've read that the developer has not updated the app in a long time. Why did Apple not warn of this inactivity thereby allowing users to attempt to contact the developer, who now appears to have disappeared. This is particularly frustrating as this is a PASSWORD app, not just a game. With no notice I was unable to download / retrieve my info before it was annihilated by the last update. Extremely disappointed with Apple at this stage. I would request Apple review app and update and allow users to open to retrieve our info.

Sorry. The forum software is buggy right now. It was supposed to format the link like this: IOS 14.5 and iPassword app developer upda… - Apple Community

I must confess I found the second paragraph a little insulting. I have used this app for probably 12+ years. So not finding random apps and throwing my info around. I think you are suggesting that I gave them my info to store. As a user and not a developer I thought I was purchasing an app that I use on my phone that is a while to conveniently and safely store my passwords.

Unfortunately, people do sometimes get upset with these kinds of after-the-fact replies. There is actually nothing I can do to help once your data is gone for whatever reason. Maybe the instructions in that other thread will work, maybe not. Fair warning - they aren't easy. And you might actually have to purchase another device - an older one that hasn't been updated. Should I simply refrain from replying? Are you going to be even more angry with me for leading you to additional 3rd party software and complicated, 15-step instructions?

I can't go back in time and fix things. All I can do is give you instructions on how to prevent this from happening in the future. But to be clear - you did find a random app and gave them all of your passwords for 12 years. I don't even know which app this was - and probably neither do you. App with generic names like "iAccounts" and "iPassword" come and go. Plus, there are always copycat apps like "iAccounts - Safe and Secure" and "iPassword - Secure Password Management". These could all be different apps made by different people.

When I tell you that you need to cut your losses and change your passwords, I'm not kidding.

Anyways, none of this helps me retrieve my info as Apple has now released an update that ends my usage of this app.

It is normal for operating system updates to be incompatible with older apps. This has been a regular occurrence with each update.

There are a number of suggestions in this thread (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/252715480) thttps://discussions.apple.com/thread/252715480)

Apparently, it was really common for people to hand over their passwords to random people on the internet. If the only thing you've lost so far are your passwords, then you've been extremely lucky. Please see my User Tip about how to avoid scams and abandoned apps: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-250003716

Even if you do manage to get your passwords back, I strongly encourage you to change all of them immediately.

Yes, I realize this. My point is not for Apple to retrieve my info, but rather, not expect this app to make whatever changes are necessary to meet iOS14.6 requirements. Now that the problem has been reported by several people, digitally reach out to users of this app (trackable purchases within app store) with a form email saying " The app has been inactive and no longer complies. It's open now for 30 days. So get your info pronto before it's gone for good" .... just saying this would have been immensely helpful. Computers, software and developers are supposed to make life easier ... or so I thought. I just hope someone on the Apple planet gets this somehow and waves a magic wand !
