Transfer Data between iPads over WiFi?

My new iPad Pro M1 is arriving tomorrow. I see that I can use Quick Start to set up the new iPad and transfer data from my existing iPad. To use the hard-wire option, I would need a Lightning to USB type C cable, which does not seem to come in the box. Is there an option to use WiFi instead?

Thanks!

These support pages should get you started with setup of your new iPad - and the methods of transferring your data from old to new iPad:

Set up your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch – Apple Support

Transfer data from your previous iOS device to your new iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Use Quick Start to transfer data to a new iPhone, iPad or iPod touch – Apple Support

If the donor iPad, from which you are transferring your data precedes iOS12.4, QuickStart will not be available.

“Transfer” is rather a misnomer. In reality, your data and setup is merely cloned to the new device. Nothing is moved or removed from the original device.

An alternative is to restore either an iCloud or iTunes backup to the new device:

How to back up your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch – Apple Support

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup - Apple Support

With the exception of a direct connection for transfer (which requires the correct USB cable - as determined by the two iPads) or restore from iTunes/Finder (again requiring the appropriate USB cable between iPad and host PC or Mac computer) - all other transfer methods use a combination of WiFi and Bluetooth.

Unless you have connected the iPad to another device with a cable, the iPad can and will use WiFi. Depending upon the action being performed, the iPad will either use a local WiFi network (for which you will provide the Password) or automatically create an ad-hoc WiFi network between devices.

For the most part, here the old Apple mantra of “it just works” is largely accurate. Don’t fret, it’ll work as advertised.

Thanks -- I was looking at Transfer data from your previous iOS device to your new iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch and Use Quick Start to transfer data to a new iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

In the How to use device-to-device migration section, step five talks about initiating the Transfer from [Device] process. The illustration shows "Transfer from iPhone," "Download from iCloud," and "Other Options." The transfer icon shows a wired connection, and the instruction says "If you're using the wired method, the transfer icon indicates that your devices are connected."

It's not clear whetherI can use WiFi instead of a cable. That's what I'm trying to figure out.
