Alarm Clock is not playing downloaded songs from Apple Music

I am not sure if this is a software issue, but my alarm clock is not playing the songs that I have selected. The songs are downloaded in Apple Music. I have deleted said songs and reinstalled them and still nothing. The software is up to date with the latest version (at the time of this post iOS 14.6). The funny thing about it is that it plays the songs that I downloaded weeks ago. The 2 songs that I have attempted to use as my alarm ringtone were just downloaded within the last 2 weeks. Hence, why I think it may be a software issue that hopefully will be fixed with the next update. Has anyone else had this problem or have a solution on how to resolve this? Thank you.

If you haven’t fixed it yet I finally figured it out delete the song from the iPhone then go into settings and choose your download audio quality as high-quality not lossless then download it set it as your alarm and it will work perfectly

Yep. That totally seems to be the easier fix. I totally forgot they even had the option to switch to Dolby atmos or Lossless types. Makes sense. Saves money too instead of having to buy the song as a ringtone, etc.

I would’ve totally picked up on That but didn’t even take it into account. I was kinda in a rush to get a solution because I needed the alarms to work ASAP and they weren’t, but the loseless audio and Dolby Atmos and etc makes total sense.

you can also change your settings to not download or stream music on the higher quality settings if preferred so you don’t have to tweak this with every new song you download. Just makes things easier.

I love that this post is dated June 2021 and until now there has not yet been a fix. Instead of playing the selected song, my phone just buzzes in silence 😂

First. As far as I know, the alarm volume is controlled by ringer volume using the side buttons (even if on vibrate).

As for the radar, which is default, best guess is just to make sure you hit save after choosing the sound. Then make sure it reflects it.

Before being rudely awakened in the AM, test it out 1 min from setting it to make sure.

You’re welcome! It’s because i am an iOS Dev-e-loper (spaced out because they flag those words too often and delete the posts), and they delete any information or help from us if it’s not posted in the forums specific for us. Since technically we get access to iOS versions and etc that aren’t public yet. Hopefully that solved your problem! You’re very welcome.

The reason your new songs aren’t playing on your alarm is because the alarm can’t play songs which are downloaded in Lossless audio. The fact that it can play older songs though means that thoes songs aren’t being listened to and weren’t download on lossless audio since lossless audio is kind of a new feature. You will have to go in to settings on music and mess around with the lossless audio settings for your music to figure that out. Hope this helped.
