Large Files ipad backup

My iPad's backup has a huge 17GB backup of Files, as seen in the screenshot below taken from Settings → My Name → iCloud → Manage Storage → Backups → My iPad

I would like to reduce the backup size of Files, but when I launch Files, there's no column for file or folder size, so it's difficult to see why backing up Files is so huge.

Any advice on how to weed out the huge Files folder/file?

Thank you.

Hey there Saifan Pilot,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. We understand you’d like to find out what files are taking up the most storage in Files. We’ll be happy to help with this.

Check out the info under “Change how files and folders are sorted” from the following resource. It shows how to organize items by file size:

View files and folders in Files on iPad

Take care.

Files app is sort of useless. Unlike Finder, It doesn't show folder sizes, so its impossible to find what file or folder is taking up so much space. And sort by file size doesn't seem to sort the folders according to their sizes. Unless you have the time to recursively comb through all of the folders and all their subfolders and hope you find the culprate.

That's what I did and still could not find the file or folder that was taking up 17GB!

I had to delete the files app and then reinstall it, only that fixed the issue.

Files app doesn't even have a progress bar for copy/move file tasks.

It's as though Apple wants a kiddy version of finder on the iPad Pro. Very frustrating and disappointing.
