iPad backup

Nothing will happen except if you need to restore your data that is of the kind kept in a backup then you won't be able to. Note that if you have iCloud set to backup automatically then your backup may just reappear.

What is your primary intention in doing this? Is it just so you don't have a backup file, or is it because you are running out of iCloud storage? If the latter, is it just that you don't want to subscribe to more? Realize that using iCloud can be a key part of using a mobile device though it is possible to use one without it. If you do decide that you do not want to subscribe to more iCloud storage then you will have to learn a different way of using your device. You will also need to disable features which use iCloud to limit what is used to the 5 free GB you get.

Nothing will happen to your iPad but you will not have that backup in case you need to restore it. I suggest buying additional iCloud storage, it is inexpensive. Alternatively you could backup to a computer.
