Font files don't show up properly in the finder, nor can they be installed

Hi, I have been graphic designer for over 20 years and have font files from many different places from over those years. I used to use Suitcase, and Lynotype and Apple font book and various other one that were font management apps over the years. But since I received my new laptop and Big Sur, over 80% of my fonts in my folder database aren't showing up or not clickable or installable. It shows this icon that I know from PC apps or things that don't work on the Mac. What is happening?? How can I get all my fonts back that I have paid for at one point in time.

Help!

Thank you.

That's not an .exe file (i.e. Windows application file). That is the generic icon for files that have no icon and have the executable bit set.

I have no idea why those fonts do not work. This website has a lot of information about Fonts on macOS, and you may be able to determine if those font types are still supported. http://www.jklstudios.com/misc/osxfonts.html

Or, the person who hosts that site may show up and answer the question directly.
