Spatial Audio & 2nd gen AirPods

I’m confused. I have an iPhone Pro Max and Apple Music - the menus show an option to switch Spatial Audio on. So far, so good.

But I’m confused because a lot of articles from usually reliable sources in the internet say my 2nd generation AirPods will work with Spatial Audio - some say an update Is coming this June. But Apple Support said my 2nd generation AirPods won’t deliver Spatial Audio. (I don’t have AirPod Pros)

Does anyone know the real answer about 2Gen AirPods (Model 2031) and Spatial Audio?
