My MacBook Pro has just started abruptly shutting down @ approximately 30% battery power
Over the last couple of weeks my MacBook Pro has started shutting down, without any warning, when the battery level reaches +-30%. It used to go down to about 4-5% before giving me warning that my battery was low, it would then go down to about 2% before calmly shutting down. All of a sudden it now simply shuts down without any warning. I plug it in for a minute or so, fire it up and check the battery, level, it is usually about 30%.
I have checked the battery condition:
- it tells me that the cycle count is 349, Apple says that the battery on my laptop should have a useable life of 1000 cycles.
- it tells me that the battery service is recommended
- coconut battery tells me that the capacity has dropped from 4790mAh down to 3132mAh, hence it only has 65.4% of it's original capacity
I am running Big Sur 11.4 as the OS. I know that Li-ion batteries loose capacity over time, I could live with the reduced capacity but this is really irritating. Is there anything that I can do to improve the situation?
Any help would be appreciated
