They are common.


If the only indication of charges is from an email or text, be aware that it may be a phishing attempt to get you to log in to a site that appears to be Apple and divulge your password or credit card information. See: Recognize and avoid phishing messages, phony support calls, and other scams - Apple Support

and Identify legitimate emails from the App Store or iTunes Store - Apple Support


If they appear to be real charges, see each of the steps in the following instructions. They include information on contacting Apple Support if the other steps don't help: If you see 'apple.com/bill' on your billing statement - Apple Support

Yes.


There is fraud around. Lots.


There are fraudulent emails. There are fraudulent telephone calls. Calls with spoofed calling telephone numbers. There are fraudulent text messages. There are fraudulent and counterfeit and stolen products offered by websites. There are fraudulent (cracked, quite possibly malware-laced) apps available for download.


Don't look into the particular type of fish you're buying, or into what's really in the "olive" oil, either.
