My free Apple TV+ subscription is due to expire on July 2 2021, but I just purchased a new iMac June 24, 2021. Should that purchase extend my free Apple TV subscription for another 12 months?

No, it is a free 1 year subscription. If you want to continue using Apple TV+ it is $4.99 per month or you can sign up for a 1 year subscription and receive a discount. If you subscribe monthly it is 12 * 4.99 = $59.88/yr. If you subscribe annually it is $50.00 per year.
i agree -- the marketing around the free Apple TV subscription is not immediately clear. i thought i would get a free year as well when i purchased my new macbook or when i purchased the latest AppleTV. #disappointed
No. There's only one Apple TV+ trial per Apple ID or Family Sharing group.
