connect external monitors to macbook air 11-inch, mid 2013

I want to be able to switch my work PC laptop setup to use my personal MacBook Air (11-inch, Mid 2013). When I unplug the USB-C from docking station and use the USB adapter to plug in to my MacBook Air, it recognizes the keyboard and mouse but not the two monitors. Why is that?

Is there a way to connect the monitors?
