Connecting my 2013 MacBook Air to an external monitor

Hello,

This is my Model Identifier: MacBookAir6,2. I'm trying to connect it to a docking station so I can use two external monitors with this laptop. The docking station has usb connections. I have a usb c to usb a cable but it is not working. What kind of cable will work with this?
