An error occurred installing iOS 14.6

My iPhone 6Plus has not been unable to install iOS updates since 12.4.1.

Have been consistently receiving below error message when I try to install the update (after making sufficient space on disk and downloading the software update on the phone):

" Unable to install update"

"An error occurred installing iOS 14.6"

[Retry] [Remind me later]

Have received this error message for every single update from 13.0 with no specific reason for the error.

My iPhone is stuck at 12.4.1. Is there any way out?

Welcome Pvin90,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Based on your post, you can't install iOS 14 on your iPhone 6s. We'll do our best to assist.

According to this, the iPhone 6s is supported on the newest iOS 14.6 version: iPhone models compatible with iOS 14.6 However, if you had the iPhone 6 (not the iPhone 6s) then it would not be compatible with iOS 14.

Since you're running into an error when attempting to update, we'd try using a computer: If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Note: You do not want to have any VPNs, anti-virus software, or Hotspots connected/enabled. If they are currently, then we'd disable them, connect to a good working Wi-Fi, then restart to test it out.

If it persists, see: If you see an error when you update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod

Make sure you've got enough free space to install the update: If you need more space for an update

Should you run into additional errors along the way: iOS update and restore errors

Wishing you the best, take care!

Hello Pvin90,

Good to know the model. Did you follow all the steps in: If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If the update has already been downloaded, it might be corrupted. Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage, to search for the update in the list. If it appears here, tap it and delete the download from the iPhone. Then you can try to download it again in Settings > General > Software Update or use the above steps to update using a computer.

You can reach out directly to Apple Support using their link here: Contact Apple Support

Hoping this helps out, cheers!

Hi,

My phone is 6S.

I have enough storage on the phone, and am able to download the software on the phone.

Inspite of the above, I am consistently receiving the error.

As previously mentioned, this error has been occurring from the time I try to install any iOS update post 12.4.1

Can the apple support center help in this case?

thanks,
