How to switch to the virtual keyboard while connected to the Magic Keyboard?
You should see a small keyboard icon in the lower right corner of the screen when you are in something you can use the keyboard on, such as Messages. You will have to tap in the message area, and it should appear in the row where you see the predictive text.
