What if the message bar is turned sideways on my screen, but there is no keyboard icon to use to move it back?

Chris, thank you for the reply. Both the message bar and the keyboard were turned vertically. I did not turn off my phone, and I don’t know if it was answering a text or what, but today it’s back where it needs to be!
Glad to hear. One thing to remember is if you ever find something strange happen on the iPhone, a good first step is to power cycle the iPhone off and back on again. If that does not straighten it out, then you need more, but it doesn't hurt to turn the device off and back on again occasionally.
Is anything else except the message bar in the horizontal mode? Check the Control Center to see if the Orientation Lock is on, the next step would be to turn the iPhone off and then back on again.
