Pictures disappearing from text msgs

I’m using ios14.6. Pictures or videos I send in text msgs disappear from the text msg screen the following day, and show a blank area where the picture use to be that looks like a file. This is an inconvenience because I have to waste time finding the pics again vs just copying them from the original text, in order to send to others…and no, I don’t always want or need to send them as group texts. The problem is that the pictures now automatically disappear from my text msgs and I don’t want them to. That should be my choice and others. This wasn’t happening in some of the earlier versions. This problem (as I see it), deals with the pictures disappearing from the texted message screen and not the photo area you see after selecting info on the texted msg screen. I read the threads from previous years. Does anyone know of a current fix? If not, Apple please fix it ASAP!

Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you're previous sent photos in Messages aren't showing since updating to iOS 14.6, correct? If so, we would love to help see if we can get the issue resolved for you. What you're likely seeing is related to the update. It can take some time for the photos in Messages to reindex after updating. We recommend making certain you're connected to a stable Wi-Fi connection and checking back in previous messages to see if the photos are showing at a later time.

Bailier, thanks for responding. After doing a little more research, I have more clarification .

Example: If I text pics or videos directly to you, they remain visible to me in that text forever. If I want to select a pic/video from the text I sent you, and send to a different recipient (by pressing the pic/video in your original text, selecting more..., next selecting the bubble by the pic/video, then selecting new recipient and sending it), the pic/video is delivered to the new recipient. However, the following day when I check the text I sent to the new recipient, the picture or video is no longer visible to me in the text I sent them. A blank file shows in the area where the pic/video use to be. This originally happened when I updated to ios13. I thought updating to ios14 would fix the problem, but it didn't.
