Apple ID email update on mac won't work on iphone

I changed my apple id email and password on my macbook pro 2015. Now my iphone 8 won't let me login. It keeps asking for the password for my old email id, but then tells me it's wrong. Also the option to log out is greyed out. What do I do?

Found out I needed to disable Screentime to log out of apple id and sign in using my new email address (don't ask me why, but it worked.)
