iMessage on OSX Catalina won't use my phone number

TLDR: has Apple stopped supporting iMessage through phone no. on OSX 10.15.(7)?

I've got a number of syncing issues and been able to narrow it down to the fact that iMessage users on my Mac can only reach me through my e-mail. My phone no won't show up on the iMessage settings in OSX.

My phone no. is used and works on my phone

My phone no. is added and verified in OSX through Apple ID, won't show up as way of reaching me in iMessage ("Messages" app in OSX) despite this

I've tried logging in and out, manual sync

(Also, my Mac is too old to update OSX 11) :(

Ideas?

Open Settings on the iPhone, go to Messages.

Make sure iMessage is switched "on."

Send & Receive should show both the phone number and Apple ID checked "on."

Text Message Forwarding should be "on" and should include your Mac in the list and that device individually must be switched "on" in that list as well.

Send as SMS should be "on."

MMS messaging should be "on."

Group Messaging should be "on."
