Also, try updating the phone. Open settings, press general, press software update.
also, a simple restart may help. Hold the power button down for about 5 seconds until you see a menu pop up. Slide right on the slider to power the phone off. Wait 15 seconds, then hold the power button until you see the phone come back on. It will ask for your password, and you can just put that in. Please note: you can’t use Face ID without using your password first.
