Pairing watch

I am pairing a watch that was connected to my wife’s phone now to my sons phone it won’t update. says no Wi-Fi but I am hooked up!! waited hours to update and it didn’t. And it will not pair no matter how many times I try

Unable to pair watch after getting new phone. I did not impair watch from my old phone and did get new wifi at home around the same time I got a new phone. I don’t think that this watch has ever been connected to new wifi. My watch cannot pair to my new iPhone because it needs an update. But every time I try to update, I get a message that says “cannot check for update because you are not connected to the internet” even though I AM connected to the internet through my iPhone. I wonder if this “not connected” refers to the watch alone. And if it does, how can I possibly connect it to wifi if it won’t pair with phone? help!

Apple Watch Series 1 pairing issue While trying to pair my apple series 1 watch to my iPhone XR I am being promoted to update the watch but it won’t update bc i get an error saying I’m not connected to the internet. My phone is hooked up to my WiFi.
